The Back Door Food Pantry
Back Door Food Pantry helps “citizens in need by supplying food to all those who come to our door in a welcoming, friendly, and non-judgmental environment.” They provide canned and packaged goods, as well as bread, eggs, milk, meats, local produce, and more. They also provide personal hygiene items and paper products. The pantry is client choice, meaning that people may select the items that best fit their personal dietary needs.
Food Gatherers
Food Gatherers is dedicated to fighting hunger where we live - that in the land of plenty, no one should go hungry. They are a food bank who serves 150 non-profit agencies and programs “in the form of hot meals, nutritious snacks or emergency groceries to low-income adults, seniors and children in Washtenaw County.”
Growing Hope
Helping people improve their lives and communities through gardening and healthy food access. Growing Hope fosters learning, improves nutrition, encourages self-reliance, and promotes positive community futures.They believe in engaging a diversity of people from economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds strengthens everyone, especially those with fewer resources.
Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels
Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels is a private non-profit corporation with a specific purpose of delivering prepared meals to the homebound elderly, disabled, and ill residents of Ypsilanti and surrounding areas. YMOW’s purpose is to deliver meals to those needing this service without discrimination because of race, sex, color, religious orientation, national heritage or ability to pay.
